When I started, laptop could 'see' the mouse but, when 'Pair' was selected, I kept gettinga message that it 'didn't work'. So I updated my bluetooth drivers and.now I can't even see bluetooth settings, search for new devices to pair with, etc. Bluetooth has completely disappeared from my Devices. Did it go, and can anyoneplease help me get it back? (So, #1, I'd like to get my laptop back to it's good set-up where bluetooth actually 'existed' and #2, I'd like to hopefully get the mouse working). Hello Shelley,Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community. We understand the inconvenience you have experienced. From the description, I suspect that the problem might be with the incompatible Bluetooth drivers. I see you telling that you tried updating the drivers.
I guess this might be the reason for this behavior. Suggest you to check for the latest Bluetooth driversfrom Dell Manufacturer website. You can search them using your laptop model. If you don't find the latest drivers then try installing the available drivers to see if it fix the issue. You can also try below mentioned steps for updating Bluetooth drivers for your device.Method 1:Try updating or uninstalling Bluetooth driversthrough Device Manager, if you haven't tried before.a) Open run command by pressing Windows key + R and type “ devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) and hit Enter.b) Spot and expand the “ Bluetooth”.c). Right click on the Bluetooth driver and select “ Update Driver Software”. When it prompts to choose an optionHow do you want to search driver, then go with Search automatically for updated driver software. If you have a driver available on your PC, then select Browse my computer for driver software, then select the appropriate location, where the driver located on your PC for updating it. ( Ensure that PC is connected to Internet while performing this step)d).
Once this is done, restart the computer to check the problem fixed. If it doesn't fix the issue, then Right click on the same driver and select “ Uninstall” then restart the system and let the system installthe driver automatically on Start. Check and see if it resolve the issue. ( Recommended step)Method 2:Sometimes latest drivers still fails to work correctly with your PC.
Try to install legacy drivers (I.e. Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 Bluetooth drivers) to see if they make any difference. If problem still persist, then install latest drivers in compatibility mode.Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.a. Download the latest and available driver from themanufacturer’s website.b. Uninstall the existing Bluetooth driver from your PC through Control Panel.c.
Right-click on the driver setup file and click on‘Properties’.d. Go to ‘Compatibility’ tab and clickRun compatibility troubleshooter, then select Try recommended setting and click Next again Next. Now it will ask you toTest the program, click on it and continue with installation. Once this is done, check if everything works fine. If it does, go back toTest the program windowand click Next, then save the setup file with that settings.
Reboot your PC and see it resolve the issue. On top of all ensure that your laptop is up to date with Windows Updates.Go to Start/Settings/Update& Security/ Windows Update and check for any available updates.Keep us posted if you require further assistance.
